Deep Tech Atelier
Deep Tech Atelier

Starting Wednesday, February 24, Deep Tech Atelier 2021, the largest deep tech industry event in the Baltics, has officially opened registration. This year the conference will focus on space, health, and med-tech, and the commercialization of scientific innovations.

Within the conference, the international Deep Tech Start-Up event is also taking place. It is aimed at all early-stage deep tech projects and is open for applications from all entrepreneurs of legal age, both individuals and legal entities. There are no territorial restrictions to participate – local and international participants are welcome.

The Deep Tech Atelier conference will broadcast online and live from Riga, Latvia from April 14 to 16, 2021, with 3 stages and more than 30 speakers. Speakers will include renowned and leading industry experts such as the world’s leading space visionary Rick Tumlinson, futurist, publicist, entrepreneur and investor Igor Beuker, former musician and a scientist with a Ph.D. in organic chemistry, investor and author Dr. Ashkan Fardost, and many more.

Registration is free of charge and available online https://deeptechatelier.com/register/.

Even during the global pandemic, Deep Tech Atelier continues to aim high, hence among the speakers one will find leading international and local industry experts to inspire and widen the scope of all participants.

“While creating content for the conference we were inspired by the value chain philosophy. I.e., we are sure that if we gather members of the industry in one platform, we can create potential for new collaborations, innovations, transfer of ideas from science to business, and vice versa. Deep Tech Atelier is so much more than speeches and discussions, it is a practical workshop, think tank, exchange of ideas, and networking. Also, it is an absolutely real opportunity to create a deep tech start-up within 3 days,” outlined Director of the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia Kaspars Rozkalns.

The target audience for this event is everyone who already is or intends to become part of the deep tech start-up ecosystem.

“Current and aspiring entrepreneurs from Latvia and abroad, deep tech start-uppers, researchers, scientists and technology developers, early-stage investors and industry representatives, accelerators, universities and research institutions, government officials and agencies, business and technology students, media representatives – all are welcome to participate,” said Rozkalns.

Within the framework of the conference, two other events are taking place. The Investment and Development Agency of Latvia and the science commercialization platform Commercialization Reactor are organizing the 17th Commercialization Reactor Ignition Event, which seeks to bring together researchers and entrepreneurs to form deep-tech start-ups, as well as the already mentioned international competition for deep tech entrepreneurs.

“The main objective of the competition is to enable international investors and industrial partners to learn about innovative solutions that start-ups are providing, thus possibly fostering new partnerships. Meanwhile, start-uppers can pitch their ideas, technologies, and strategy to their direct target audience,” elaborated Nikolajs Adamovics, CEO of Commercialization Reactor.

One can apply to the international Deep Tech Atelier Start-Up competition until April 1, by filling out the application form at www.commercializationreactor.com. On the same day, 20 finalists will be announced. On April 15, they will have to pitch their ideas to the jury. The five best projects will be awarded.

For now, all events will be taking place remotely. The conference will be broadcast live with options for attendees to ask questions to speakers online.

Rozkalns added that Deep Tech Atelier organizers are grateful that some speakers have opted to address attendees from the stage in Riga while observing all required safety standards.

“If at that time, when the conference will take place, national health and safety regulations will allow us to host even a minimum number of attendees, we will seize the opportunity. The live broadcast will take place from Hanzas Perons in Riga,” said the CEO of the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia.

This already the third Deep Tech Atelier is a conference and workshop in Riga. Previously, the event welcomed several hundreds of attendees each year. Due to the global pandemic in 2020, the event was postponed to 2021. Now, Deep Tech Atelier is the largest event in the Baltics dedicated to the development of the deep tech ecosystem and industry. After each conference, in cooperation with Commercialization Reactor, at least ten teams of entrepreneurs and researchers are formed, which later become start-ups.
